Stokes Nolte has practiced law in Delaware since 1984, and he has successfully tried and/or argued cases before all of the courts in the State. Stokes’ areas of concentration include complex civil litigation, defense of product liability claims, commercial and contract disputes.
Stokes earned his law degree from the California Western School of Law in San Diego, California in 1983, where he served as a member of the Advocacy Honors Board and the Student Honors Board. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Delaware in 1980. Stokes was a partner for many years of a mid-sized regional law firm before joining Wilks, Lukoff & Bracegirdle.
Stokes’ practice also involves white collar criminal defense. He has also successfully litigated cases involving employment law and occupational disease. Stokes is admitted to practice before the courts of Delaware, the United States District Court for the District of Delaware and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Stokes’ recent experience includes:
- Serving as defense counsel in a white collar criminal case and related civil securities actions in the United States District Court for the District of Delaware.
- Successful representation of a multinational automobile rental company against numerous claims brought in Delaware.
- Successfully defending a silicon chip manufacturer against personal injury claims brought as a result of employment in a “Clean Room” environment.
- Successful representation of a multibillion-dollar corporation against employment discrimination claims filed in Delaware.
- Successfully representing a national college fraternity in litigation alleging injuries resulting from claims of fraternity hazing.
- Commercial litigation involving dissolution of a franchise agreement and non-competition clause.
